Sub-inspector Prabhu Singh of Jhotwara police station said that the injured, Akash Choudhary, sustained a gunshot wound to his thigh.
“He (Choudhary) had come to visit his friends at a house in Taranagar. When he was leaving the house, two assailants on motorcycles shot at him near the entrance gate,” Singh said.
Choudhary, a resident of Govindgarh near Jaipur, told police that he was preparing for government competitive exams.
He was initially taken to a nearby hospital, where the doctors referred him to SMS Hospital for additional treatment under the supervision of senior medical professionals. “The injured stated that he was unable to identify the two assailants, nor could he recollect having any personal conflicts with anyone,” Singh said.
A team from the Jhotwara police arrived at the crime scene and also roped in the the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) units to gather samples. Until late at night, various police teams were examining multiple CCTV recordings in an effort to find clues that might help in identifying the two suspects.
According to a senior police official, Choudhary had previously lived in the same locality in Jhotwara and had friend there. Although he had recently relocated to a different area, he continued visiting Jhotwara to meet his friends. On Saturday evening, he had once again come to meet his friends, and it was during this visit that the two men shot at him.
“Our teams swiftly spread out as soon as we received reports of the shooting. We spoke to locals and vendors to inquire if they had come across any suspicious activities. It’s suspected that the accused promptly fled the area,” said an official.
