Monsoon Likely To Enter Raj By June 26, Says Met | Jaipur News

Jaipur: There was no respite from the heat wave conditions across the state for the third consecutive day on Thursday when majority of the places witnessed its maximum temperatures above the normal notch. Vanasthali in Tonk remained hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 43.0 °C, mentioned the Met reports. As the onset of monsoon was witnessed in Kerala on Thursday, people in Rajasthan can expect its arrival by June 26.
In the evening, dust storms and showers came as a respite for people in Jaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Alwar and Bharatpur.
Thunderstorms were witnessed in the evening in Jaipur. It started at 10.15 pm at various places in the city. “High velocity winds followed by rainfall in widespread form was witnessed in Jaipur that came as a respite from heat, ” said an officer with Met office.
“As per the past trend monsoon is seen in Rajasthan usually by the last week of June and this year it is expected to enter the state by June 26. However, depending on its progress and movement it can advance towards Rajasthan a little early,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office.
Attributing the continued rise in the mercury to the active northerly winds, Jaipur Met office said that heat wave conditions will further aggravate in the state in the next couple of days.
People in Jaipur woke up to a warmer morning with a recorded minimum temperature of 29.0 °C. It was followed by a sultry afternoon when a maximum temperature of 39.8 °C with a humidity of 70% was recorded. In the afternoon roads wore an empty look as people confined themselves to their homes and offices.
In its forecast the Jaipur Met office said that the heat wave condition will prevail in the next 24 hours. Except for the Bikaner division the weather would mainly remain dry in the state.
